The 2015 AAU Junior Olympics is hosted in Hampton Roads during the summer. Baseball, gymnastics, and track and field are just some of the events young athletes will be able to enter. About 15,000 athletes are expected to participate in over 20 sports, creating the largest youth sporting event in the country. With former participants such as Lebron James, Shaquille O’Neal, and Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Junior Olympics is a major event for the regional sports commission.
