The Hampton Roads Black List
Premieres Sunday June 21st @ 8pm
Cox is pleased to present the premiere of "Hampton Roads Black List." Based on the award-winning HBO documentary, the program the special program is a compilation of stories of trial and triumph of African-Americans from the Greater Hampton Roads region who have broken barriers in their lifetime.
About The List
Chosen in concert with the Urban League of Hampton Roads, the 2009 Black List honorees represent a dynamic group of individuals who have made great contributions to the region:
Bruce Smith: NFL hall-of-famer, businessman and humanitarian
Sen. Yvonne Miller: First black woman elected to the Virginia Senate and House of Delegates of Virginia.
Father Joseph Green: Pioneer in racial equality serving as one of the first persons of color on the Norfolk City Council
Dr. Patricia Turner: Member of the Norfolk 17 and education leader in Hampton Roads
Dr. LD Britt: The first African-American in the history of the Commonwealth of Virginia to be appointed Professor of Surgery
Barbara Ciara: News anchor and ground breaker in media and communications

Cox Hampton Roads has developed a Face Book for the Hampton Roads Black List. Viewers of Hampton Roads Black List and others within the Greater Hampton Roads region are invited to share their stories of those who have broken down barriers and impacted lives in a positive way in the community.
The stories in the Hampton Roads Black List documentary are moving and powerful," said Gary McCollum, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Hampton Roads. "But we recognize that these are not the only stories of success in the region…and through this Face Book effort, we are hopeful that folks within the region will share their accounts with others."
