Cox Business Executive Discussion Series to Focus on 2010 Job Recovery in Hampton Roads

Next edition of CBTV (Cox Business Television) on Cox 11 will review job recovery as well

Chesapeake , VA

Cox Business will gather some of the state’s key business and workforce development leaders on March 16 to talk about the job recovery for Hampton Roads in 2010. This symposium is part of the “Executive Discussion Series,” presented by Cox Business and Inside Business. This session will take place on Tuesday, March 16 at the Waterside Marriott Hotel in Norfolk , from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

According to recent economic reports, more than 6,000 jobs were lost in the region in 2009. With President Barack Obama’s declaration that job recovery will be a top federal priority in 2010, this month’s Executive Discussion Series will be an important opportunity for business leaders to learn about the sectors which will likely see the greatest recovery impact as well as the projected timing for the turn around.

“The 2010 job recovery indicators are important measures in helping businesses prepare for the economic recovery. When the recovery begins in earnest, talent acquisition will be important to ensure that businesses are able to keep pace with customer demand. We’re pleased to give Hampton Roads businesses this important future outlook into the job recovery forecast,” said Mike Braham, Vice President of Cox Business.

The panelists for the upcoming Executive Discussion Series include:

  •     Vinod Agarwal, Ph.D, Professor of Economics, Old Dominion University
  •     Judy Begland, President and CEO, Opportunity Inc.
  •     Deborah DiCroce , President, Tidewater Community College
  •     Darryl Gosnell, President and CEO Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance
  •     Rodney Jordan, Think Tank Director, Joe Jordan Foundation

Admission to the Executive Discussion Series is free-of-charge, but space is limited and registration is required by March 9. To register for the event, call (757) 222-5394 or visit www.insidebiz.com.

Finally, the 2010 jobs recovery will be a continued line of conversation on the next edition of CBTV or “Cox Business Television” hosted by Braham. The panelists from the Executive Discussion Series will speak further about the job resurgence and will provide even more detailed information about what businesses can do to prepare. CBTV airs on Cox 11 Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 12:00 p.m.
